I am the marketing director for Monte's and would like to take a moment to apologize to the people below that were turned away because they were wearing tennis shoes, and address the issues below brought up by Bman B.
First of all, we allow tennis shoes every night of the week except for Tuesdays. I understand this can be frustrating, and I really do apologize to anyone that shows up hoping to hang out and gets turned away. This is not something we look forward to doing - we want you to come in and dance and have a good time! But we unfortunately do have to set some sort of standard for dress, and this was picked as our standard on Tuesday nights.
If you have had problems with this I encourage you to please email me at sarah@monteslounge.com. If this really is bothering this many people I can take your feedback and try to get approval to make a change. As I mentioned, it is only Tuesdays now that we don't allow tennis shoes.
Next, and this is insulting that I even have to say this - the reason we don't allow tennis shoes is not (as Bman B said in his review) "because black people wear sneakers." Even though he thinks this is a "logical explanation", I do not. I am not aware of any correlation between footware and skin color, and I think you will find if you look around to other clubs with dress codes you will find the "no tennis shoe" rule is quite a common one, and I doubt it has to do with skin color.
We try to ensure that we have a friendly, fast, and all around amazing staff. I personally think that we do have one of the best staffs in GR and hope you will stop by and give us a chance to prove that to you.
